Introducing Otsuchi Joyful House
Otsuchi Joyful House is a reconstruction support center established by the denomination, Japan Church Of God, for Otsuchi Town in Iwate prefecture, which was severely damaged by the Great Earthquake in East Japan on March 11, 2011. The denomination is an legal organization of Japan, headquartered in Cleveland, Tennessee, USA. The headquarters in Japan is in Tokyo Lighthouse Church which was started in Yokohama in 1952 by an american missionary, rev. L. E. Heil.

In case of a car
If you are coming from Tokyo, continue north on the Joban Expressway (E6), continue north on the Sendai Tobu Road (E6), continue north on the Sanriku Expressway (E45), get off the Otsuchi IC, and go down Prefectural Road 26. Go straight on the crossroads of No. without entering the prefectural road, and cross the river as it is.
Turn right as you will hit it immediately.
At the Y-shaped road on the way, turn left and proceed further northwest. Pass in front of the Okaguchi Post Office, turn right immediately and you will be on your left.
By Train
From Otsuchi Station, take the Iwateken Kotsu / Akahama Line (via Akahama-Kamiohata / Akahama 3-chome) / Akahama bound bus and get off at «Otsuchibashi» for about 4 minutes. The fare is 150 yen. It’s a 23-minute walk from there.
Alternatively, take the Iwateken Kotsu / Akahama Line (via Akahama-Kamiohata / Akahama 3-chome) / Akahama bound bus from Otsuchi Station and get off at «Oshatchi-mae» for about 2 minutes. The fare is 150 yen. It’s a 28-minute walk from there.
Alternatively, a 7-minute walk from Otsuchi Station, take the Iwateken Kotsu / Akahama Line (via Akahama-Kamiohata / Akahama 3-chome) / Akahama bound bus from «Osyatti-mae» and take the «Otsuchi Bridge» for about 2 minutes. Get off. The fare is 150 yen. It’s a 23-minute walk from there.
